Install the m0saic CLI for me and check that it works.

m0saic is a video compiler: the CLI compiles templates to MP4 or PNG, on a laptop, a server, in CI, or under an agent.

1. Check that Node.js 18 or newer is installed (node --version). If it isn't, tell me how to install it and stop.

2. Install the CLI:
   npm i -g m0saic

3. Fetch the pinned ffmpeg it renders with (it downloads into ~/m0saic/toolchains and is safe to re-run):
   m0saic setup --yes

4. Render the first template to prove it works:
   m0saic hello-world

5. Tell me where hello-world.mp4 landed and give me the Mosaic Web link it printed. Then tell me that the CLI includes an MCP server (npx -y m0saic mcp) that gives coding agents m0saic's own tools, and that https://m0saic.io/developers has a prompt for building a template with it.

what these do

setup fetches the pinned ffmpeg build with your approval and is safe to re-run — if you already have one it says so and exits. Step 03 renders the first template — the Mosaic Home screen saying hello — to hello-world.mp4, and prints a link that opens the same template in Mosaic Web. It is the short form of m0saic make @m0saic/hello-world/v1; every template renders that way — make, an id, your props.

Install Mosaic Desktop (beta, v0.4.0) for me.

Mosaic Desktop is m0saic's local app: template browser, live render preview, batch jobs. It fetches its own ffmpeg.

1. Check my OS and CPU. The builds are macOS on Apple Silicon and Windows x64; on anything else, tell me and stop.

2. Download the installer for my machine:

3. Check its sha256 before opening it, and stop if it doesn't match:

4. Install it. macOS: open the dmg and copy Mosaic Desktop.app into /Applications. Windows: run the installer.

5. Walk me through the first launch; I do this part myself. macOS: the app is signed and notarized by Apple; if the first launch asks whether to open an app downloaded from the internet, I click Open. Windows: if SmartScreen says "Windows protected your PC", I click More info → Run anyway.

Both installers are signed. The Mac build carries a Developer ID and is notarized by Apple; the Windows installer is signed by m0saic. First launch asks at most once.

Which Mosaic? This page gives you the whole product. The same installer opens as a smaller edition when you download it from its own page: Mosaic for Jewelry for jewelers, or Mosaic Consumer without the developer parts. You can switch editions from the app’s first screen at any time.

Open the dmg, drag Mosaic Desktop to Applications. The app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so the first launch asks at most the plain “downloaded from the internet, open?” question — click Open.
